What is Wherefore Art Thou Juliet about? It’s opening night and your friend, Emma Wadsworth, a rising star on Broadway, is about to make her debut as “Juliet” in the highly anticipated revival of Romeo and Juliet, only she’s nowhere to be found. Retrace her footsteps with her fellow castmates in and around Times Square in this new Chalknotes mystery. Your adventure, alongside Romeo (Jake Odmark) and others, will explore several of the popular places Broadway actors’ love to frequent and a few landmarks. Who are the cast and creators? Wherefore Art Thou Juliet? was conceived by team Phil Olarte (executive producer, director, app product designer) and Jeffrey J. Keyes (playwright). Erik/Romeo will be played by Broadway alum Jake Odmark (Bway: The Inheritance, Pretty Woman, Kinky Boots, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Ashley Reyes (Bway: Play that Goes Wrong) as Marta the Understudy , Raymond Lee (Bway: GroundHog Day, Aladdin, Honeymoon in Vegas) as Officer Murphy, and Ellyn Marie Marsh (Bway: Rose Tattoo, Pretty Woman, Kinky Boots) as Bette/Nurse. ***COVID-19 precautions info *** The whole experience can be completed outside, but there are some invites to explore indoors. When you cannot keep socially distant from others, wear a mask. When indoors put on a mask and be ready to present vax card if asked.
Audience Role
This is a different kind of Broadway production, available through the ChalkNotes app, and you’ll be listening to the show as you move between some actor’s favorite spots in and around Times Square. While our actors and characters aren’t physically with you at this time, their voices and spirits are very much with you throughout this experience and you, yes you, are indeed very much a character in this play. Your role is that of THE INVESTOR, one of the most essential players in any Broadway play. We don’t need you to learn any lines but we do ask you to bring your attention to the story and your surroundings at all times. You will be crossing streets and avenues, and making your way through crowds to get from location to location.
