The Grand Tea Ceremony at Hanayoi (Online)
KYOTO NIPPON FESTIVAL 2026 -A garden that blooms beyond time-
Four hundred years ago, Toyotomi Hideyoshi hosted a legendary tea ceremony at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. This unprecedented gathering, where people of all social classes enjoyed tea together, came to an end after just one night. The “phantom second day” of the grand tea ceremony—one that should never have existed in history. The immersive theater production "The Grand Tea Ceremony at Hanayoi", in which attendees themselves became guests at the banquet and witnessed the stories of the shadows of historical figures, is being revived as an online stream. A multi-angle broadcast is also planned, allowing viewers to simulate the immersive experience by switching perspectives. It will also be possible to watch individual segments focusing solely on specific characters. Set within a vividly colored art space created by Mika Ninagawa with EiM, the phantom banquet—woven together by the physical performances of DAZZLE—will raise its curtain once again. This work is designed to provide a simulated experience of the immersive theater production “The Grand Tea Party at Hanayoi.” The video recreates the audience’s subjective viewpoint, and the audio reflects the sounds as they would have been heard in the actual space. Please be aware that there are some sections with camera shake or where the visuals or audio may be difficult to see or hear clearly; please purchase this with that in mind. Each camera angle follows a different character in the story, but please note that the first half of the video is the same for all angles.

About DAZZLE
Founded in 1996, DAZZLE is a dance company that continues to produce highly original works under the slogan "A dazzling presence that belongs to all categories, yet doesn't belong to any other." Pursuing a unique style that fuses street dance and contemporary dance, the company creates works with strong narratives that actively incorporate elements of Japanese culture, such as film, comics, and games. They constantly strive to realize "open dance," expanding its possibilities by utilizing cutting-edge techniques, so that dance can be enjoyed by a wider audience, not just a select few.
