60+ artists have created a wild universe of stories and performances to explore from home
The Los Angeles River is iconic. Follow its 51 miles. Endless tributaries of tastes, characters, stories, colors, and sounds. Come explore the L.A. River in a way you've never seen it before, in a series of entertaining immersive experiences to benefit River LA. Each night starts with the mythical story of geologist Dr. Alison Vincent in her quest to unlock the untold stories and voices behind the Los Angeles River. More than 60 artists have built five parallel stories for you to explore through an innovative new medium, bringing the multicultural past, present, and future of the L.A. River to life. Invite your friends wherever they are to go on this intriguing 80-minute adventure of storytelling, film, music, interactive multimedia, and live performance. All you need is a personal computer with an internet connection and a telephone. No two experiences will be alike. For Rio Reveals, a partnership to benefit the river, immersive theater pioneer Mikhael Tara Garver (Sleep No More, Empire Travel Agency, Pop Culture Collaborative's Becoming America Fund grantee) and her entertainment studio 13 Exp has commissioned a team of 60+ artists, including Aja Couchois Duncan, (California Book Award, librettist for Sweet Land), Ana Maria Alvarez (Contra Tiempo Urban Dance, Doris Duke Award), Anna LaMadrid (IAMA, Pasadena Playhouse), David Israel Reynoso (OBIE Award for Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More), Jaclyn Backhaus (Men in Boats - The New York Times Critics Pick) Jonathan Sanford (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Dare Me, Good on Paper), Kimberly Kyne (Cover of LA Times and PAPER Magazine), Mary Angelica Molina (Sundance, IFC, Party of Five Reboot, On Becoming a God in Central Florida), Niki Morrissette (performer with Indigo Girls and Great Caesar), Shannon Scrofano (Berlinale, Uganda National Cultural Center, PICA’s TBA Festival, Getty Villa, REDCAT, Teatro El Público Havana, Prague Quadrennial, Tribeca Film Festival), and Will Pickens (Sound Design for Julie Taymor, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Public Theater).
