There is an understanding among people who think about such things that children are closer to that veil.” DRESS WARM, WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES, BRING YOUR MASK, PHONE, AND EARBUDS FOR AN INTIMATE THEATRICAL ADVENTURE ABOUT POSSIBILITIES HIDDEN ALL AROUND US AND FINDING TREASURE IN UNEXPECTED PLACES. ‘Here There be Night’ is a professional production which uses the health limitations of COVID-19 as theatrical convention. Audience groups of 1-2 are guided via their cell phones and audio narration to see solo performers in a variety of outdoor and found space locations in Edmonton’s vibrant Old Strathcona district. You must arrive on time. No more than 2 minutes late, since timing is key in this production. LATECOMERS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED Bring: -Your EXCITEMENT for this unique experience -Your SMART PHONE (*Minimum* iPhone 6 or Android 4 operating system WITH A DATA PLAN to access the internet.) *Your phone will be both your map and guide. We will provide you with a quick tutorial prior to the beginning of your experience.) -EARBUDS (for the audio component between performances along your walk. *The audio is an integral part of the production.) -WARM CLOTHES for your walk -Wear COMFORTABLE SHOES -Bring your own MASK (*we will have some available for those who may forget) Audience members will arrive on-site either alone or in a cohort of two. The arrival of audience members will be necessarily staggered due to the nature of the performance. Group 1 begins, 10 minutes later, group 2, begins, and so on. Unfortunately, this production is NOT: 1.) Wheelchair accessible 2.) 'Reduced-mobility' friendly 3.) ASL Interpreted
Audience Role
Audience groups of 1-2 are guided via their cell phones and audio narration to see solo performers in a variety of outdoor and found space locations. This is an ambulatory experience. You will be required to walk/traverse short distances between performance spaces at a walking pace. There are gravel surfaces and sidewalk curbs that are part of the performance trajectory. THE TOTAL DISTANCE WALKED IS LESS THAN 1000m/1KM: 8 short walks of 20m or less, broken up by 8 performances over the course of an hour.
