Presented by Koryn Wicks & FIVARS. I'm beyond excited to invite you to check out my new Augmented Reality (AR) experience GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE: THE OLD ZOO. Join me on Sunday, November 3rd, 1 - 4pm in Griffith Park at the Old Zoo for a pop-up event and celebration. Drop by anytime to try the experience, chat with me and other collaborators about creating work in AR, enjoy light snacks and refreshments, and celebrate the close of the spooky season. GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE was recently featured at FIVARS 2024 (The Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories). FIVARS curates the best immersive story-driven content for new platforms from around the world. ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE: GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE: THE OLD ZOO is a site specific, AR experience delivered via smartphone app. It invites participants to visit The Old Zoo in Griffith Park and engage in a unique journey to “The Otherside.” Throughout the experience, users will encounter and engage with spirits using the app’s AR interface. STARTING POINT: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mPnVsXoEq7MkGMmQA ACCESSING THE APP & TECHNICAL INFO - I strongly recommend downloading the app before heading to the park. For iphone users: 1. First you will need to download TestFlight from the App Store. 2. Once you have TestFlight installed, download the GHOSTS App at: https://testflight.apple.com/join/oXpAZpYM For Android users: 1. Download the most recent APK from the following Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zmBjezJZXXb4CVzGRaj_Bn4AhW3nkNZa 2. You may need to adjust your security settings in order to install the app. Unfortunately, AR functionality is not compatible with all devices. For the best experience, install the app on a device released in 2022 or later. I will have a handful of devices on hand to lend to folks whose devices are not compatible. Headphones are strongly recommended. DETAILS: Parking - There is parking along the little road that takes you to the starting point. If that parking is full Merry Go Round Lot 2 is also close by: https://maps.app.goo.gl/kooGoCr7CDm2PTZk6 Experience Duration - Approximately 30 min Accessibility - The experience takes place in a public park. The terrain is easy and there are well kept walking trails. The experience requires users to traverse some grass and go up a few sets of stairs or an incline. Content warnings - The experience centers on themes of loss and death. There is some strong language. Viewer discretion is advised.

About Koryn Wicks
Koryn Wicks is a choreographer and multimedia artist. Her immersive choreography creates explorable performances in which live movement and digital media build off one another in real time. Koryn’s work has been show at Slamdance DiG, The Bootleg Theatre, Highways Performance Space, the Orange County Museum of Art, Bowery Poetry Club, and the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Koryn earned her MFA in Dance from the University of California, Irvine and graduated from the Alvin Ailey School with honors. She has been on faculty at CalArts, Glendale College, Cypress College and Cerritos College. Koryn also choreographs for film and television; most recently on the ABC pilot Until the Wedding.
