CASTING at Gymnopedie Immersive Event - Main Image

Presented by Gymnopedie, CASTING is headed to Brooklyn for a limited run this spring! This production comes off a sold out run at the Denver Film Festival. CASTING invites audiences to see whether they have that star power it takes to book the big gig. Absurd and poignant, CASTING is an intimate, immersive experience that explores the choices we make when we want to stand out and those we make when we want to connect. The experience combines theater, dance and interactive sound and video design. Come for the show, stay for the evening. CASTING lasts approximately 30 minutes, but your evening doesn’t have to end there. Enjoy live music and a cash bar at Gymnopedie in the lead up to and/or following your showtime. The team behind CASTING: CASTING was created by Artistic Director Koryn Wicks and a diverse group of collaborators, including artists working in immersive design, performance and technology. Koryn is an award winning immersive creator and choreographer. She creates unique and thoughtful immersive experiences for live and virtual settings that reimagine relationships between audiences and performers. Koryn's work integrates dance, theater and interactive technology including interactive sound and video installations, projection, motion capture, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR). This production includes both original and new collaborators. Original collaborators include Sam Alper, Hanah Davenport, Morgan Embry, & Alex Lough. This production also features exciting new performances from Sleep No More alum Audrey Stanley and Jonathan Gordon who recently performed in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. What people say about CASTING: CASTING has been called "beautiful and poignant, "artfully crafted," and "full of humor, heart, and catharsis," by the No Proscenium team. Graham Wetterhan of After Hours Theater Company called the experience, "achingly heartfelt, scathingly satirical, and one of the most honest and vulnerable theatrical experiences I’ve ever had."

Audience Role

CASTING is an in-person, participatory experience, audience members should plan to be active participants during the entire, 30min duration of the performance.
