Yayoi Kusama: The Place of the Soul

This exhibition showcases the creative activities and spiritual journey of Yayoi Kusama, from her early works to her latest series, 'My Eternal Soul.' Yayoi Kusama's messages of 'eternity,' 'infinity,' 'love,' 'life,' 'death,' and 'universe' run through her many works. Kusama was born in Matsumoto in 1929. As a child she struggled daily with hallucinations, and her drawings of those images on scraps of paper were perhaps the starting point of her art. After solo exhibitions in Matsumoto and Tokyo, she moved to the U.S. in 1957, living and working in New York for 16 years. However, this is also a creative activity that cannot be allowed to stop. And even now, she continues to be 'avant-garde' without slowing down her pace.
