The exhibition «VINCENT – Between Madness and Wonder» takes you on a journey through the final three years of Vincent van Gogh's life – a period filled with paintings, letters and inner struggles. This impressive exhibition sheds light on the artist’s life from a completely new perspective. It is Johanna Gezina van Gogh-Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law and later art dealer, who guides visitors through his moving story. Between 1888 and 1890, Vincent van Gogh created an extraordinary body of work that would forever change the world of art. Experience an emotional journey through Arles, Saint-Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise, and discover the man behind the myth. Walk alongside Vincent through blooming fields and gaze upon the sparkling sky of The Starry Night. Listen to his thoughts. Feel his doubts, his longing and his unwavering passion to capture life in colour. The exhibition offers fascinating insights into Van Gogh's life and sources of inspiration, inviting you to explore his thoughts, sketches and stories up close. The audience experiences firsthand the genius’s profound inner turmoil. The heartfelt correspondence between Vincent and his brother Theo poignantly illustrates how deeply the artist was plagued by self-doubt, financial hardship, and loneliness, while at the same time revealing the unbridled inner drive that compelled him to paint and draw relentlessly despite it all. In the immersive section, the centerpiece of the exhibition, visitors are literally drawn into the painter’s fascinating world. They stroll alongside the exceptional artist to the «Café Terrace at Night», stand beneath the sparkling sky of «Starry Night» and allow themselves to be completely enveloped by the radiant yellow of «Sunflowers». While elaborate 360-degree projections create intoxicating worlds of color brimming with emotion and allow visitors to experience van Gogh’s works in a way never seen before, they move freely through the space. As they do so, they listen to the thoughts of the tormented artist, sense his doubts, and feel his unwavering passion for capturing life in color.
