Uncanny Alley: A New Day (LA)
Live, immersive theatre in VR—step into the story, interact with characters, and experience performance like never before.
Ferryman Collective proudly presents the Los Angeles debut of Uncanny Alley: A New Day at the NoHo CineFest film festival! Step inside the award-winning VR theatre experience created by Ferryman Collective and Virtual Worlds Company. Winner of the XR Must Award for Best Interactivity/Performance, and celebrated at major international festivals including Venice (Fanheart3 Audience Award), SXSW, Raindance, and NewImages Paris, this groundbreaking production blends gaming interactivity, immersive design, and cinematic worldbuilding in a gripping cyberpunk world on the edge. The entire live performance will be projected on the movie screen for all to witness. Up to 50 people may attend to watch the projected performance and experience a bold new frontier in live storytelling. 12 audience members will have the chance to participate directly (in groups of 4), donning VR headsets where they will interact with two live remote performers and each other.
Audience Role
In Uncanny Alley: A New Day, the audience plays an active, embodied role within the world of the story. Rather than watching from a distance, each participant becomes a "Metizen"—a civilian caught up in a tense and uncertain moment in the alley. Guided by live actors, audience members interact directly with characters, speak, move freely, and make choices that impact the flow of the experience. Whether quietly observing or vocally engaging, every audience member is present in real time, acknowledged by the performers, and woven into the narrative. In the livestream version, audiences witness the story unfold as it happens but remain outside the interactive layer.
