ABOUT THIS EVENT: Uncanny Alley: A New Day is nominated for an Emmy Award in Outstanding Emerging Media Program, recognizing for its live, interactive, immersive, and audience-centered approach to storytelling. Created by Ferryman Collective and Virtual Worlds Company, the theatrical experience invites audiences to enter the world, engage directly with performers, and become part of the story in real time. Uncanny Alley: A New Day, VR Theatre Experience creating in collaboration by by Ferryman Collective and Virtual Worlds Company, had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it received the Fanheart3 XR Experience Award. It went on to win XR Must’s 2024 award for Best Interactivity/Performance and took 2nd place for Best Sound Design. Following its international debut, the piece was featured at Imagine Fantastic Film Festival, Tempo Dokumentärfestival, and had its U.S. premiere at SXSW in March. It was also selected by NewImages Festival, where it hosted the world premiere of its French-language performances, and had it's first successful run of public shows as part of Raindance Immersive, a festival open to audiences worldwide, who could purchase tickets directly to the experience without needing a separate festival pass, and could attend either in VR or through a YouTube livestream. The production later won the XR Immersive Award at the Kaohsiung Film Festival, IndieCade’s Performance Spotlight Award and Innovation in Experience Design Award, and the Aurea Award for Impact. It was also nominated for the AIXR Award for Best XR Experience of the Year and the Auggie Award for Best Art or Film, continuing its international journey of innovation, performance, and storytelling in virtual reality. Uncanny Alley: A New Day is a guided virtual reality theater experience with live actors. Each show runs approx. 75 minutes long. **North America, Europe and Asian friendly performance times.** NARRATIVE SUMMARY Adaptive Learning Industries is about to launch the New Day update through legislation that passed with little public support. Uncanny Alley’s “Metizens” will soon feel the amnesia-like effects from weaponized Radio Frequency waves. Cyberpunk hacker-whiz, Gh0st, breaks a group of protesters out of jail to lead them and her increasingly sentient Service-Bot, Atom, to safety through a hacked portal, out of the city and to a new metaverse. They must stick together, evade capture, and decide whether to leave Uncanny Alley or stay and fight for their freedom, and their home. TWO WAYS TO EXPERIENCE THE SHOW Virtual Reality Admission - Participate Live Uncanny Alley: A New Day is a fully live VR performance featuring two actors who fluidly portray multiple characters. Audience members from around the world can attend using a Meta Quest 3, 3s, Pro, or PCVR-compatible headset. To get the most out of this immersive experience: Enable your microphone so you can speak directly with the characters you encounter. Wear headphones to ensure clear audio and prevent feedback during the performance. This is the full interactive version of the show - you’re not just watching, you’re part of the story. YouTube Livestream Admission - Watch Live Unable to join in VR? You can still watch the performance unfold live on YouTube. Livestream viewers will follow the experience in real time as the actors and VR audience move through the story. While YouTube viewers cannot interact directly with the performers or participants, they can watch the full live performance as it happens from anywhere in the world. IMMERSIVE THEATRE With the transformative power of VR technology, participants are fully immersed in our captivating 3D world. Audiences will go through multiple environments, exploring all the way from the tunnel system underneath the fictional Uncanny Alley world, traversing through hackerspaces, caravans, secret workshops, nightclubs and all the way to the heights of the ALI government penthouse offices. Participants can expect a high level of interactivity, audiences will converse with the actors, other audience members and interact with their virtual surroundings. RESTRICTIONS Attendees will be required to create a VRChat account (this is free) and download the app to their Oculus or Steam account. We are Quest 3, 3s and Pro compatible as well as PCVR via Steam. Quest 1 and 2 is not compatable and we ask that audiences do not come in on a PC or computer.
