THE REVE: Xinhua · Digital Broadway
There is a theater you can walk into on the Shanghai Bund.
There is a theater you can walk into on the Shanghai Bund. It is an immersive digital theater on the Bund with the theme of "urban memory"—here, you don't watch a movie, you step into the movie. What will you experience? Put on a pair of VR glasses, hold a 1995 Shanghai subway ticket, and you'll travel back 30 years to the shikumen alley. Join Anitou to find cats, listen to music, and stroll through the alley, experiencing that magical summer night in 90s Shanghai through lights and melodies. This is the nation's first VR music film themed around Shanghai—"Rock-a-bye 1995"—which has won numerous accolades including the "Dragon Seal" for virtual reality films and recommendations at the Beijing International Film Festival and Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Festival. Mandarin, Shanghainese, and English language options are available. The entire journey takes about 40 to 60 minute and is suitable for all ages. Whether you're a young person curious about the past or a parent wanting to relive their youth, everyone can find their own moving moments here. What else is there to play? The theater offers more than just VR experiences. With an old Shanghai style photo zone, Shanghai-style folk music livehouse, NPC interactive performances, and immersive light and shadow spaces... from the moment you step through the door, you enter a different Shanghai. Watch plays, listen to music, take photos, and stroll around—all in one building.
