The Pavilion: VR & Immersive Works

Unlike anything else at the festival, these are works that cannot exist on a traditional screen. They are films that place you inside the story, that ask you to look around, lean in, and feel present in worlds both intimate and vast. Each film has been hand-selected for its artistry, its emotional depth, and its ability to expand what cinema can be. Guests will have 90 minutes to explore the program at their own pace, moving freely between films across a range of genres, styles, and perspectives. Step into the studio of a legendary Viennese artist who paints your portrait and leave with an original AI-generated print as your souvenir. Follow a young struggling artist through the sun-drenched streets of Paris as a chance encounter in a city park changes her life forever. Bear witness to three generations of a Javanese family navigating the transformation of their neighborhood as Jakarta evolves around them across four decades. Pilot a high-tech submarine through the Galapagos, the Arctic, and beyond, encountering whales, sharks, and sea turtles while taking real action for ocean conservation. These are just some of the experiences awaiting you, alongside works by filmmakers from the Pacific Northwest and around the world. This year's VR Pavilion features four filmmakers attending in person, several of whom have traveled from outside Oregon to be here. We invite you to not only experience their work but to meet the artists behind it. Sessions are ticketed and limited to 10 guests at a time, ensuring an unhurried and personal experience for every visitor. Getting Here The VR Pavilion is located in the Old Moody Building at Zidell Yards, 3121 S Moody Ave, Portland, OR 97239. Free parking is available on site within the gates. When facing the Old Moody Building sign, enter through the gate on your right. Zidell Yards is also easily accessible by bike, bus, and streetcar. The South Waterfront/South Moody transit station is just one block away, serving the Orange MAX line, A, B, and NW Loop streetcar lines, and bus lines 9, 17, 35, and 36. ADA Accessibility The VR Pavilion is ADA accessible on April 11th, 12th, and 19th. Please note that on Saturday April 18th, the event will be held on the second floor, which is accessible by stairs only.
