The Order of the Golden Scribe: Initiation Tea (2023)

Join us in a pop-up escape game dining experience unlike any you've seen before. Teams of four will work together to decipher clues, solve puzzles, and unlock teas, finger sandwiches, scones, desserts. But if you talk to the right order members you might find there is something else afoot. ​You are formally invited to the high tea and initiation ceremony for new recruits into The Order of the Golden Scribe. This secret Order goes back as long as history has been written, destroyed and rewritten. The key to the Order’s power is utter secrecy. As a new recruit, this shall be your formal induction into the Order. Alongside your tea, you will be presented with the final tests of your training. These puzzles are a mere formality and should be child’s play for someone with your status within the sect. We look forward to your official RSVP to attend this most prestigious and highly secret event. What is this? This is a food-based escape game / immersive theater experience designed by the team at Patchwork Adventures. You’ll be “inducted” into this fake organization and will have to solve puzzles and clues to get each course. You’ll also be interacting with actors, discovering the Order’s secrets and making important decisions as a team. What size team is this for? This event has six tables that seat 4 people each. If you are not booking with a full group of 4 you may be paired with other players to join your table. While most puzzles are solved at your table, there are some meta interactive puzzles that are a collaboration with all players. What kind of food will I be served/dietary restrictions? Your group will be served various teas, a selection of finger sandwiches, scones, and dessert items. The base menu will have fish, eggs, milk products, gluten, and nuts. We are able to accommodate most dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, nut-free). Please put any dietary restrictions on your order form. We will try our best to avoid cross contamination, but if you have a life-threatening allergy to any of the above food products, this experience might not be the best for you. Length? This experience will take teams between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Physical Access and Content Information? All participants will have to climb at least two flights of stairs to access the space. This experience includes: interaction with actors, puzzle solving in teams, interactions with other players, use of logical deduction and observation skills. Mentions of secret cult-like organizations, erased history, the existence of war, dominant cultures over taking, and infiltrating to destroying corruption. Ticket Price? Your ticket includes a high quality afternoon tea consisting of food and refreshments. We are also committed to paying our whole team a NYC living wage. This includes our actors, game designers, prop makers, graphic designers and food preppers. That being said, we do want our work to be accessible.
