Part of The Music Center’s Innovation Social series, this multidisciplinary event brings together visionary artists who use AI, motion capture, game engines and digital storytelling to explore how movement connects us across generations and cultures. Through live performances, installations and sound-based works, artists explore how movement bridges culture, history and technology in new and unexpected ways. Rhythmic Wave I by Aya Umoh Traditional Nigerian dance meets digital avatars in a speculative storytelling blended with motion capture and participatory world building. Cosmeage by Ari Melenciano Rooted in Pan-African rhythms and cosmic lineage, improvised dance and sound unfold into art exploring heritage and identity. Hands Performance by Rashaad Newsome A short film using dance and sign language to map Black cultural expression through movement and technology. Black Bar Listening Station by Janice Duncan An audio installation—part creative archive, part community ritual and part celebration of artists. Black Planetarium: Ancestral Algo-rythm by Kidus Hailesilassie In Black Planetarium: Ancestral Algo-rythm, movement becomes a planetary language. Each gesture is a frequency, each breath a transmission. Within this field of sound and code, drift through ancestral frequencies.
