The Letters Immersive Event - Main Image

About In this piece, we collaborate with an audio AR team to craft a unique experience where the audience, guided by voices heard through headphones, explores the city. As they walk, performers appear, leading them deeper into the narrative. Amid familiar scenery, whispered voices from the characters transform the everyday urban landscape into a new realm of wonder, revealing hidden layers of the city and its people. Story This is a story about loneliness and connection. Once, in Shibuya, there was a street called 'Love Letter Alley,' where a man made his living writing letters for others. After losing his wife, Iris, a lonely letter scribe hears a whisper from Lethe, the god of forgetting: “If you write 100 stories of loneliness from this city, I’ll take your pain away.” The unspoken cries of lonely hearts turn into “letters with no recipient,” flowing down the underground River of Forgetting beneath Shibuya. But what the writer doesn’t know is that Iris’s soul is pulling those letters out of the river. She hides them in record sleeves and sends them back out with music, reaching the people who need them most. While Lethe tries to heal loneliness by making people forget, Iris brings people together by sharing that same loneliness. When the 100th letter comes, the writer has to decide: Erase his sorrow and forget everything, or keep living with the loneliness he carries. Walk through the streets of Shibuya and lose yourself in this immersive sound experience.
