What to Expect Event Summary Teams of up to 8 people will undertake the adventure. Teams will start at staggered times, this means you may run into other teams along the way. We ask that you politely take your turns with the different character contacts you may meet. Features "story mode" with fun tasks, and "challenge mode" for people who enjoy pen/paper puzzles! Costumes encouraged but not required. Participants should expect to travel! Not terribly far, but traveling by foot or wheelchair from place to place is expected. Adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols outlined by each venue. All ages welcome but 21+ required for drinking. Detailed Description You will start your adventure at the time you (and your group) have registered for at the specified start location. There, a staff member will greet you, and walk you through our onboarding and safety briefing. You will select a persona and receive a name card. Then, you will be introduced to your first contact, who will give you your in-character briefing and set you off on your adventure. At each location you visit thereafter, there will be two characters you can make contact with. Every character you meet will have a task for you to do in order to gain their trust and confidence. Some will be social, some mental, and some (very moderate) physical challenges. The game has "story mode" which is just the tasks, and "challenge mode" which contains harder, pen & paper puzzles at each stage. After you solve an initial story mode task, the character you are assisting will ask you "Would you like a challenge?". You can simply say yes or no depending on your preference. You can also "skip" the story tasks by simply telling the character you want the challenge. If you decide to give up on a challenge, you may feel free to do so at any time and go back to story mode. Start times are staggered by ~15 minutes, which allows you to move from location to location to meet the characters and solve their challenges before another group comes along. If you run into another group already talking with our characters, please allow them some time to complete their interactions before approaching. We encourage you to patronize the various establishments, but not linger too long in any one place or you may run out of time to complete the mystery. The scenario takes ~1.5 hours to play through, typically, but can take longer if you stop for drinks, food, etc. We do not run the event past the specified stop time, and our actors and crew will leave after that appointed hour. FREE Parking Free parking at the city garages at 170 Centre St or 7 Jackson St Costumes Costumes for the event are not required, but highly and enthusiastically encouraged! Incantrix staff will be dressed in late 19th century/steampunk clothing. If you enjoy dressing up, welcome home! Accessibility We endeavor to make these tasks and challenges accessible, but recognize that there are some limitations that will apply. If one challenge is not suitable for you, don't worry, there are many more that you should hopefully find fun and interesting! Walking/movement is expected and all the locations we use are ADA accessible. If you have a specific accessibility need, please contact us and we would love to work with you to ensure your enjoyment! COVID-19 Safety Please adhere to the safety protocols outlined by each location you visit; bring a mask in case it is required by the venue. All of our staff are vaccinated and we strongly discourage anyone unvaccinated from attending. We will have sanitizer available at each location with our staff members. Age Restrictions Drinking at pubs is at your own discretion, 21+ of course, and we are not liable in any way for your decisions on those lines. If a member of your party becomes too intoxicated and our actors become uncomfortable, they will be asked to leave immediately. This is an event where you can bring kids, but you may not want to if your kids are easily frightened. Think Tim Burton or Neil Gaiman levels of spooky, with themes of forbidden magic, murder, betrayal, etc. Location Information You'll start out at Pearl Street Station and make your way to 4 other locations, then back to Pearl St. This is an easy ~20 minute walk time with ADA-accessible entrances at all locations.
