A literal literary movement! Blue13’s dancing Book Club series dresses up pretty for the Los Angeles LGBT Center with interactive audience moments, text, fashion statements, and even a Bollywood disco party. The piece explores formative memories, lost love, and code switching–the pressure to tailor our speech, our dress, and our very selves to fit in. The Dress Code blends literary conversation, sartorial sense memory, and innovative choreography. Blue13 asks audience members to wear something meaningful to them, and to come prepared to share a story, get lit, and be moved. Location & Runtime: The performance will begin in the Courtyard, and runs approximately two hours (including a staggered intermission) Suitability Suggestions: Suitable for ages 13+. Parental discretion encouraged. All sales are final. No late seating.

About Blue13 Dance Company
Blue13 Dance Company's highly energetic and theatrical style, performed by dancers of many backgrounds, draws from ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, Bhangra, Kathak and Bollywood to tell unforgettable stories. A first-generation South Asian American, artistic director Achinta S. McDaniel pulls precision, humor and deep emotion from her ensemble to create rebellious and unconventional work that turns the cultural stereotype of Indian dance on its head.
