The Broad Cloth
A small island community try to weather unusually fierce storms.
Skylark Island has a population of about 300 people. Their main industry is making woollen broadcloth in the traditional ways. For a few weeks, they've been battered by unusually violent storms. The boats that bring supplies have been unable to get near, and now they're starting to be concerned about how long their food stores will last, not to mention the fuel for the generators. Some believe the Fae are responsible: the island's fairy ancestors. Others ridicule tradition. There are those who think mainlanders should never have been allowed to mix with islanders, and others whose livlihood relies on tourism. As the storm grows, so do these tensions. This is an R&D process for a project that will eventually take place across Zoom, Discord, and in person at a live gathering. Eventually, a core narrative will build to a peak at the live event, pitting islanders against each other as change is forced upon them. Bring a character and get involved in the community now, for a longer game experience - or just come along and chat to us as we play, and watch the story unfold in a more traditional theatre way. (You can change your mind any time.) A note about access: this R&D has a particular focus on accessibility for those who are neurodivergent, especially ADHD.
Audience Role
You can play a character and get completely involved in the storytelling, or you can just chat to us out of character and watch the action. You are also welcome to lurk and listen and not chat at all. You can change your mind any time, between all of these. We have a process called Accompanying, whereby someone can give you whatever support you need if you want to play a character, or just have questions about the story/world.
