SURFING A MULTI-MEDIUM WAVE: Crafting Experiences and Immersive Narratives (2-Week Intensive)
A creative collider taught by David Bassuk, Kaitlin Chin and Bhurin Sead
The art of the immersive comes to life through exploring presence in the body and the imagination. In this summer intensive you will learn new methods and initiate new projects inventing ways to make creative connections with your audiences in a journey across time in multiple mediums. Our workshop projects are designed to emerge into transmedia storyworlds with multiple narratives in both stories and games. One of the great things about “franchise storytelling” is that not all stories have to cater to every audience, and it gives room to experiment both commercially and creatively. Audiences are formed through threads and streams of diverse entertainment experiences that employ a dizzying array of content. In this way the storytelling evolves into a shared experience that can lead to an audience’s richer commitment. In this intensive you will be guided toward the creation of immersive projects that combine story with technology. Exploring the range of human senses by generating work in spaces either real or virtual will lead us toward world-building, interactive narrative design and participatory practices. We will share these projects at the end of the two weeks to an invited virtual audience. This intensive is for both the Immersive novice and veteran alike. Both have so much to offer the other!

About Movement Theater Studio
The mission of the Movement Theater Studio is to create a home for the teachings of Jacques Lecoq in New York. MTS believes that there is no separation between the psychological and the physical actor. The most exciting performer is one who can engage their imagination fully while having a rigorously trained physical instrument through which these impulses can be dynamically expressed. All full time faculty at MTS have trained at École International du Théàtre Jacques Lecoq, Paris.
