Sleep Temple
What happens when an ancient bed becomes a gathering place for modern dreams?
Sleep Temple transforms gallery space into a living collection of sleep stories, built around the Khaat—a traditional Indian bed that's been part of daily life for over 5000 years. Master craftsman Tahir Mahmood hand-carves this remarkable piece, while Jumblies’ artists – Sharada Eswar, Áine Schryer-O'Gorman, Ary Rizvi and Jesse Wabegijig – facilitate community members to weave their own stories of sleep and dreams directly into its fabric. The result is part furniture, part artwork, part living archive—growing and changing as new voices join the conversation. Created by Jumblies Theatre + Arts, Sleep Temple is both an art installation and an invitation. Join workshops to add your own dreams to the collection, experience a sound bath, take a power nap, dream of a deep sleep, or simply sit with the thoughts and memories this unique space brings to the surface. In a world that never seems to slow down, Sleep Temple offers a moment to pause and consider how we rest, dream, and share our stories. Luminato is working with Jumblies on Sleep Temple to build capacity around access and inclusion through consultation with targeted communities.
