Rumors

When they gather to celebrate a tenth wedding anniversary, four New York power couples experience a severe attack of Farce.

Rumors Immersive Event - Main Image

Immerse yourself at a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though it's only a flesh wound, Charlie Brock's self-inflicted injury sets off a series of events causing four couples to try and cover-up and hide the potential damage to his reputation, and naturally, hilarity ensues! STORY: Charlie and Myra plan to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary at their beautiful home in the company of eight dear friends. But when their tuxedo-and-designer-gown-clad guests arrive, they find the house empty, piles of uncooked food in the kitchen -- but Charlie and Myra nowhere in sight. The hungry, angry and totally befuddled guests drown in speculation as to the reason for what is happening (or not happening). But as, in the face of all the odd circumstances, they try to preserve at least a bit of their cool and dignity, they actually become entangled in increasingly bizarre situations which they cannot comprehend. Rumors is a riotous farce by beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon that comedically explores the idea that you can get away with anything if you are a good enough liar and the damage that rumors can inflict on their victims. The play has been called “the first no-holds-barred farce of his career.” Come laugh with us!

About Experience Theatre Project

Experience Theatre Project was founded with the belief that new, modern theater consists of innovation, immersion, and imagination. We strive to create a unique and inventive theater-going experience by bringing audience members into the moment through a collaboration of creative writers, performers, musicians, technology, digital media, and the community. We aspire to produce a wide-ranging repertoire which will encourage the audience to not simply observe a play, but essentially feel as though they are an integral part of the performance (the experience). Our eclectic approach celebrates new voices, inspires and challenges audiences of all ages, and explores new and inventive ways in which to bring theatrical performance to a whole new level of storytelling.
