POCKET CHANGE Immersive Event - Main Image

POCKET CHANGE is an anthology of eleven short plays your coins perform for you. Housed within a small cardboard theater, named Lin-coin Cent-er, the plays use literal coins as the actors. The complete project consists of this theater, a small booklet containing the plays and associated notes, and a series of backdrops created for each of the plays. Basically, POCKET CHANGE is an intimate piece of toy theater that can be performed by anyone, anywhere. It costs $10 to build by hand and ship each copy of POCKET CHANGE. All additional income is split evenly between the 22 artists with work included in the piece. you pay ------ each artist gets $10 ---------- $0 $21 ----------- $0.50 $32 ---------- $1 $54 ---------- $2 $76 ---------- $3 This first run of POCKET CHANGE has 25 copies for public sale with additional runs possible if demand is high. The playwrights anthologized in POCKET CHANGE are: jose sebastian alberdi Jonathan Alexandratos Dan Daly John Michael DiResta Anisa George and three six-year-olds Bryan Halperin Nikolai Mishler Clay (Claire) Moodey Grace Oberhofer Andrew Rincón Ashley Lauren Rogers The scenic designers and illustrators anthologized in POCKET CHANGE are: Gaya Chatterjee Caitlin Ayer Jacquelyn Guiterrez Laura Valenti Jessica Emerson Dahlia Al-Habieli Shiny Skunk Lex Gernon-Wyatt Chris Raintree Thomas Lauria Jess Goerold POCKET CHANGE is the first piece created under the moniker of OTHER FORMS OF (OFO) THEATER, a new way to categorize the small theatrical and installation work helmed by Dan Daly. OTHER FORMS OF (OFO) THEATER creates and supports performances that do not fit neatly into the definition of “theatre” and exist below what is deemed commercially viable. We experiment with the theatrical form and rethink what performance is, not just artistically but also structurally. We test out new forms of artistic creation, financing structures, and organizational layouts. Through this we discover ways to make theatre more equitable, just, and fair. Ofo Theater is committed to exceptionally small, experimental, works that cannot scale, performances that eschew historic theatrical space, and shows that only tangentially relate to what we are taught theater is.
