People Watching

Performance viewed through binoculars in Navy Yard, Washington, DC

People Watching Immersive Event - Main Image

'People Watching' creates connections between audiences and performers over extreme distance. From the rooftop of eNvy Condominiums, audience members will view the performance through binoculars while performers are seen off in the distance throughout Navy Yard and across the Anacostia, located on rooftops, balconies, and bridges. 'People Watching' explores intimacy through distance, uniting a diverse mix of performance forms using elements of movement, sound/music/song, and poetry/text. There will be two performances each evening at 6:30pm and 7:30pm, June 23-27, 2021. The total length of the performance is 30 minutes. 'People Watching' is co-produced by CulturalDC and Extreme Lengths Productions as part of CulturalDC's 2020-2021 Mobile Arts Season, in partnership with eNvy Condominiums and The Kelvin (Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners) and HQO (DC Water Headquarters). [HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS] Audience members are required to wear masks at all times throughout the performance, regardless of vaccination status. Audience members will maintain social distancing throughout the performance on designated marks. Binoculars will be sanitized between performances. [PERFORMANCE ACCESSIBILITY] Audience members will be greeted outside eNvy and led to the rooftop via elevator. The performance can be viewed standing or sitting. About Extreme Lengths Productions

Extreme Lengths Productions (XL) is a Washington, DC-based collaborative dance and installation project of producing director Benjamin Levine. With a firm mindset that anything is possible, XL creates technology-driven, movement-based performance. Our go-big-or-go-home attitude, desire to work highly collaboratively, and disinterest in traditional proscenium settings fosters work which tips the traditional balance between design and dance, making design the primary focus of the work with movement shaped around the vision of the design.
