One Act of the Dead
This immersive, site-specific experience will invade the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival this May, plunging audiences into a high-stakes horror-comedy unlike anything they’ve seen before.
Imagine stepping onto the set of a low-budget zombie film—only to have real zombies crash the shoot! One Act of the Dead throws its cast and crew into absolute chaos when an undead outbreak turns their behind-the-scenes drama into a fight for survival. Think The Play That Goes Wrong or Noises Off!—but with ZOMBIES! But here’s the kicker: One Act of the Dead is performed in a single continuous take, delivering a pulse-pounding, real-time experience filled with jaw-dropping twists, gut-busting laughs, and gasp-inducing surprises. Just when you think you know where the story is headed, it flips the script—again and again. And the thrills don’t stop there. This show won’t be confined to a traditional theater. Instead, it will unfold under the night sky as a site-specific Fringe performance, immersing audiences in an outdoor setting where the boundary between fiction and reality gets deliciously blurred. “We wanted to create an experience that doesn’t just entertain but completely pulls the audience into the action,” says David Strauss, Founder of Homicidal Orphan Productions. “One Act of the Dead takes everything you love about zombie films and live theater and smashes them together into something completely unexpected. This is going to be unlike anything Fringe audiences have ever experienced before.” Featuring a powerhouse cast, razor-sharp comedy, and an inventive twist on the zombie genre, One Act of the Dead is set to be the must-see event of Orlando Fringe 2025. Whether you're a horror junkie, a comedy lover, or just someone who craves unforgettable live experiences, this show promises to leave you exhilarated, laughing, and maybe just a little paranoid about the undead lurking nearby. "We are trying to do something that hasn't been done, pushing our limits and, no matter what happens, just keep going!" says director Bill Warriner.
Audience Role
The audience will be attending the "live stream" of the launch of a new Zombie Channel, and will be either channel investors or media coverage. Your choice will offer different experiences and allow you to follow whichever performers you wish during the show.
