The 6th Season of OnBoardXR will premiere cutting edge live performances in your web browser. OnBoardXR is a seasonal, first-look accelerator of short-form showcases for live performance artists and technologists wishing to prototype or experiment with live 3D/XR/VR/AR/Streaming virtual technologies. https://onboardxr.live Past work has included theater, dance, improvisation, painting, choose-your-own-adventure, escape rooms, fooling, and puppetry. These projects are created and driven entirely by the teams to devise their own 3D virtual environment, audience interactions and technical integrations. Many OnBoardXR prototypes and artists have gone on to secure grants, funding, programming and job placement. 2022 August "Charting the Stars" Series (Season 5) 2022 March "Port of Registry" Series (Season 4) 2021 Oct/Nov "Monsters & Mythology" Series (Season 3) 2021 July "Below Deck" Series (Season 2) 2021 March "Cruise" Series (Season 1) 2020 Oct "Jettison" Prototype What You’re About To See OnBoardXR is a seasonal series of short, live performance works that push the boundaries of interactive and immersive technology within a single hour and web browser. Each show is responsible for building its own world and interactions that can be “swapped” like scenery within a single url. We recommend visiting our sponsor lobby at https://onboardxr.live I Can Build It | BRENDAN BRADLEY & CLEMENCE DEBAIG An early prototype for 'DEGENERATE,' a live musical performance where the audience generates the environment around the performer via text prompts. This Is Your Country Too | AVIN SHAH A snippet of a VR game, ‘This is Your Country Too’, about being a person of colour stuck in airport immigration: The Terminal meets Groundhog Day. Grove | JASON WANG Do Goldfish remember their homes? You'll be helping a homesick goldfish adjust to the various challenges of being dropped into a new tank-- fresh from PetCo. This 10 minute experience is testing the ~waters~ for Grove-- a 30 minute experience where you'll help animals resolve their human-like problems. Obscure Nerd Comedy | ObscureVRNerd A stand-up comedian brings his metaverse act to the immersive web. Wendy V. Godzilla | MICHAEL MORRAN A satirical take on branded content in the metaverse and artificial intelligence hype cycle promoting fast food of the future. Staff Clemence Debaig | Creative Technical Strategist Michael Morran | WebXR Technical Architect Brendan Bradley | Immersive Creative Producer All participating artists are considered and credited as “Performer-Producer” for their “act” or “segment” of the show to reflect ownership of their original work. How To Access The Show OnBoardXR is optimized for Desktop access on Chrome or Safari and Headset access on Oculus Browser and Firefox Reality. We recommend visiting our virtual lobby at onboardxr.live the day before your showtime to identify any technical concerns and familiarize yourself with the controls. There will be staff at the show to assist you, like an usher at a traditional play, but like a traditional play, we cannot hold the performance for late comers. We typically send out a confirmation email AT SIGNUP with a basic overview and access to our Lobby, encouraging attendees to familiarize themselves with the experience before the showtime. TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES We’re in uncharted waters and sometimes folks fall overboard! If you experience any connectivity issues, the first step is to REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH. If you’re still struggling to enter the experience, you can watch passively from the log-in screen or visit the livestream... Show More

Audience Role

Audience members can attend using their computers, phones, tablets, or virtual reality headset. Unlike a traditional show, the audience is part of the experience and the experiment to experiment (and often break) at the bleeding edge of what is possible in live, virtual performance. Once they've logged in, attendees find themselves in a virtual lobby where they'll be met by the house managers, who help them "on board" a shipyard, guided by in-character pirates. Changing scenery and costumes with the click of a button, the audience journeys through a "dark ride" of short performances created by different artists around the world, each with their own unique approach to interactive technology and storytelling through theater, dance, improvisation, painting, and collaboration. The evening ends aboard a virtual vessel, allowing the audience to enjoy a post-show sunset while they discuss their reactions and feedback.... Show More

The Jigsaw Ensemble is a digital media company focused on narrative entertainment, education and live experience through collaborative, interactive media. The Jigsaw Ensemble’s founder and owner, Brendan Bradley, is a multi award-winning actor, writer, director and producer. After training at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and NYU's Tisch School, Brendan began a career developing dozens of original plays and musicals Off-Broadway. Since moving to Los Angeles, he has built a name in over 100 digital shorts and sketches, earning over 40 million views and working with some of the most recognizable faces and brands online while his film work has been featured in festivals world wide, most notably The Sundance Film Festival, SXSW and Methodfest. Under The Jigsaw Ensemble, Brendan has enjoyed 20 years as a self-proclaimed “scrappy storyteller,” creating 'fiascos,' a term borrowed from Italian glass blowing when a wine bottle with any flaws is salvaged into a flask. This celebration of imperfection and resourcefulness captures his personal culture of ingenuity and experimentation to bring new technologies and audiences to narrative storytelling.... Show More
