Musée Patamécanique
A Cabinet of Patamechanical Curiosities
Part of the legacy of the Wunderkammer — the Cabinets of Curiosities — Musée Patamécanique is a small, private museum rumored to open its doors to friends, colleagues and the occasional outside observer. A tour is an immersive outdoor/indoor experience — sometimes described as Experience Fiction or an ARG — in which visitors explore the meaning and possibilities of Patamechanics, an expressive language derived from Alfred Jarry's 'Pataphysics, uniting parody, invention, and the profundities of the universe. Each guided, narrative-driven tour winds through an animated collection of eclectic curiosities: mechanical creations, talking animatronic sculptures, and a cast of enigmatic practitioners and Pataphysicians. Expect Rabelaisian humor, playful absurdity, and a museum that makes no distinction between highbrow and lowbrow culture. Tours are for groups of 2 to 5 guests, arranged entirely by written correspondence via email.
