Morwood Manor Immersive Event - Main Image

A devised gothic thriller loosely inspired by Shirley Jackson’s "We Have Always Lived in the Castle", Morwood Manor seats the audience around the table for a family tea service that grows steadily stranger. The production uses the suspense and social tension of the murder mystery genre as a starting point for something more surreal and psychologically disorienting than a usual whodunit, and explores suburban isolation, coping as ritual, and the dynamic between duty and trust through an increasingly bizarre unfolding of familial dynamics. Created by an ensemble of Denver performers and co-directed by Soleil Kohl and Hang Nguyen, and created in a site-specific process to activate the restored church of Merritt Wellness. Gothic attire is encouraged. //// Dear esteemed guests, We welcome you into our cherished home as a reintroduction into the community after some… unfortunate time apart. We're sure you all have forgiven--or at least forgotten about--that horrible incident from some years ago. Sometimes accidents happen, but we can assure you that safety is of the highest priority tonight. We promise to all get along for an evening of pleasantries and normal conversational exchanges. We’ll serve tea. The doors will be locked for your safety. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience so that we can expect your arrival. Pets and children are not allowed.
