Toy vending machines don’t generally ask for favors. But this one does: “I know you must be terribly busy with the forthcoming apocalypse, but something seems to have gone horribly wrong. I could really use your help.” Text the phone number and go on a real-world adventure. EDIN is trapped in the machines and terrified of its newfound mortality. Will you help? This self-paced, roaming experience is about 60 minutes long and can be enjoyed at any time during Festival hours. No RSVP needed.

About Enemies of Time

Enemies of Time build immersive¹ stories² that are accessible³, sustainable⁴, and meaningful⁵ (with footnotes⁶). ¹ Immersive. Make the audience the center of the story. We invite and reward engagement, but do not require it. We are vulnerable; participants enjoy themselves at the level they choose. ² Stories. We are storytellers first. Real-time narrative drives our work, through a mix of exploratory installation, improvisation, interactivity, technology, and theater. ³ Accessible. Bring immersive experiences to broader audiences, lowering barriers to participation, including physical, psychological, and financial. Our work teaches participants how to engage with this emerging medium, where the vocabulary and labels haven’t fully taken shape. ⁴ Sustainable. At the end of any show, both artists and audience should be excited for more. To make professional art sustainable, pay artists professionally. ⁵ Meaningful. Say it with enthusiasm and sincerity. Be vulnerable. Lean in to emotional storytelling. We embrace the opportunity for stories to shape people’s understanding and curiosity for humanity and community. ⁶ Footnotes. Why would we waste an opportunity to share more of our words with you?
