Make a Scene Festival 2021
Premiering 7 new experiences about gender diversity
Make a Scene is a weekend-long celebration of novel live-action narrative games ranging from large to small, silly to serious, and abstract to personal! As North America's only scenario festival we promise a powerful experience as you become the first to experience 7 brand new scenarios that explore gender diversity. At Make a Scene you will... ...explain the genderless aliens you met to your totally square 1960s boss ...battle stereotypes as sidelined superheroes with mediocre powers ...break your stoic silence and reach out to other men at work ...weigh whether to parent in a post-capitalist utopia ...amp up your Metalhead friends to commit atrocious acts for attention ...survive floods, your in-laws, and The Fae’s dark influence in Spanish Louisiana ...tattoo your genderqueer feelings directly onto your skin This event is an all-inclusive weekend-long festival. The festival is Oct 22-24th and 4 vegan meals and party treats are provided. Make a Scene is taking covid precautions. Here’s just a few: * We require proof of vaccination. * Our venue affords indoor and outdoor play spaces. * We will follow our health department’s latest guidance. Right now that’s looking like masks and social distance at the festival. * Register now, pay later. No one pays until a few weeks before the festival, just in case we have to cancel the event. Any in-person festival event has irreducible risks: covid, big feelings, con crud, safety concerns, and more. We want to be transparent about how we are mitigating these risks, so people can opt-in with full knowledge. We also recognize that our risk mitigation won’t be enough for everyone. We hope that just about anyone will feel comfortable to attend our Day on Online Play this November 13th! Registration for our online event opens soon. Make a Scene 2021 is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
