KAGAMI (Osaka)
A new kind of concert, fusing dimensional moving photography with the real world.
Created by legendary composer, producer, artist, and environmental activist Ryuichi Sakamoto (Yellow Magic Orchestra, The Last Emperor, The Revenant) and Tin Drum, KAGAMI represents a new kind of concert, fusing dimensional moving photography with the real world to create a never-before-experienced mixed reality presentation. Audiences will wear optically transparent devices to view the virtual Sakamoto performing on piano alongside dimensional art aligned with the music. KAGAMI, which translates to "mirror" in Japanese, features Sakamoto playing original compositions including well-known works such as "Energy Flow" and "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence," along with rarely played pieces. Presented in surround sound, the experience will be both collective and individual, inviting observers to connect to the work—and each other—throughout. Audiences may view the show in a seated format, and will also be free to wander and explore. There is, in reality, a virtual me. This virtual me will not age, and will continue to play the piano for years, decades, centuries. Will there be humans then? Will the squids that will conquer the earth after humanity listen to me? About Tin Drum
We were looking for a new way to record and present performance – to better preserve and understand people and the work they make. Traditional film is great but it's flat, while nothing else in our world is. We needed more. Full Dimensional Film is a complete rethink – the first truly new visual medium since the advent of moving pictures over a century ago. As the name implies it's utterly, actively dimensional – dimensionally recorded and dimensionally presented. The performance happens in the room with us in real time. Where we move and what we look at changes everything about the experience we have. Our agency dictates our experience – our curiosity informs our agency. And as a result the event feels shared, intimate, energetic and very real. Full Dimensional Film is what it feels like to have the moment step out of the screen.
