James Turrell: Espíritu de Luz

"Espíritu de Luz" is a 700-square-meter Skyspace created by James Turrell, located in the Plaza Florecimiento of Parque Central at Tecnológico de Monterrey, part of DistritoTec's Corredor de las Artes. It is the first work of its kind in Monterrey, and Turrell's third Skyspace in Mexico, joining "Agua de Luz" in Yucatán and "Encounter" at the Jardín Botánico in Culiacán. The piece is designed as an observatory that creates a visual experience through a sequence of lights every 12 hours, at dawn and dusk, offering an immersive show composed of three main areas: the outdoor contemplation area, the interior chamber, and two access and exit tunnels shaped like aircraft wings that widen as they meet the central space. "Espíritu de Luz" is dedicated to the memory of Don Eugenio Garza Sada and Eugenio Garza Lagüera. Admission is free, though reservations are recommended, as capacity is limited per session.
