Intergalactic Masquerade returns on June 6 as itchy-O’s flagship annual gathering: a large-scale convergence designed to be experienced as a single, continuous arc rather than a conventional concert bill. Expanding into the Mission Ballroom, the 14th Annual Intergalactic Masquerade functions as a temporary rendezvous point; a shared threshold activated by sound, motion, and collective presence, drawing participants from across universes and dimensions. The evening opens with Carnivalè de Sensualè, whose blend of burlesque, magick, and variety sets the tone for the Masquerade’s long-standing tradition of theatrical spectacle and embodied mystery. High Step Society follows, delivering a high-energy fusion of jazz-age swing, brass, bass, and electronic dance music engineered to move bodies and accelerate the room. At the center of the night is itchy-O, a Denver-based, 60+ member percussive and electronic performance collective blending a massive rhythm section and experimental electronics into a ceremonial event designed to induce altered and spiritual states. Built on mystic frameworks, trance rhythms, and a devout cult following, itchy-O collapses the boundary between performer and audience, transforming the space into a single, powerful field of sound, motion, and collective intensity. Beats Antique closes the evening with their performance-driven live show. Best understood through direct experience, Beats Antique operates as a living stage work where live instrumentation, movement, costume, and visual spectacle merge into a singular, unfolding narrative. Drawing from global musical traditions and experimental cabaret, their performance moves fluidly between celebration and ritual. As the final passage of the night, their set carries the room through a powerful release and reorientation, completing the arc of the Intergalactic Masquerade as a shared experience held in liberated unity. The Intergalactic Masquerade’s renowned costume contest returns as a core ritual, with over $1,000 in prizes awarded onstage. Attendees are encouraged to arrive unencumbered by the mundane, dressed, adorned, altered, or otherwise contributing to The Crossing rather than just observing it.

Carnivalè de Sensualè opens the night. Expect burlesque, erotic artistry, theatrical seduction, and a celebration of the body as spectacle and symbol. This portion of the evening leans into sensual aesthetics: glamour, tease, physical expression, and adult themes. It is erotic in tone, not explicit in action. About THEE ITCHY-O
Since 2009, this Colorado-based meta-mystical ensemble has been thrilling audiences across the U.S. and beyond. A battery of fourteen-plus power percussionists comprises the spine of the fifty-plus strong performance troupe whose orchestral arsenal of avant-instrumentation runs the gamut from guitars, gamelan, and synths to less conventional instruments including theremin and vocoders in concert with more experimental trance-inducing appurtenances. Itchy-O dismantles assumptions of traditional performance models to break down the barriers between audience and experience, administering a blast of ceremonial chaos; baptizing the audience—body, mind, and collective soul—in a spectacular, pan-sensorial sea of music, mystery, and transcendental spiritual spectacle. Itchy-O proudly served as a centerpiece at MONA’s world-renowned Dark MOFO fest in Tasmania in 2016 and is ecstatic to be invited back to perform, again in 2023. They have performed on stage with David Byrne & St. Vincent. JG Thirwell and Dan Deacon have opened for itchy-O and they have warmed up audiences for numerous legendary artists including DEVO, Beats Antique, Iggy Pop, Bad Religion, and Public Enemy. They have performed countless private engagements, including a legendary performance for Maynard Keenan’s Merkin Vineyards in 2019. Jello Biafra’s iconic underground record label, Alternative Tentacles has released three of their groundbreaking studio albums.
