This site-specific production of Carner & Gregor’s Island Song features interactive elements and an immersive pre-show experience. About this event: At turns enthralling, frustrating, isolating, and inspiring, New York City has us all firmly in its grasp. It takes determination and resilience to make it here. But what does it take to feel like you belong? Rooftop Musical Society invites you to follow the stories of 12 New Yorkers as they experience the joys and pains of living in New York. Upon arrival, you will step into The Gardner, a fictitious sanctuary nestled in Bushwick. It is a place where you can take respite from the bustling city life and build significant relationships with similar-minded residents. Revel in the array of amenities offered by The Gardner, such as the delightful happy hour and open mic sessions hosted at ‘Cafe Deluxe,’ our lavish apartments and communal office space, and our stunning rooftop terrace. Afterwards, prepare to be captivated by our presentation, where our residents serenade you with their Island Songs, each narrating their distinctive story. The pre-show experience will begin 1 hour before the show. Guests can select staggered entry times when purchasing a ticket.
Audience Role
Our immersive pre-show begins 1 hour before curtain. When you arrive, you’ll enter the world of The Gardner, our fictional, Bushwick oasis. At The Gardner, you can escape the relentless pace of the city and make meaningful connections in a community of like-minded residents. Enjoy a drink at Cafe Deluxe, tour our living and work spaces, and take in the skyline from our beautiful terrace. If you would like to interact with our actors, you will be given a name tag. You're welcome to opt out of these interactions.
