Inside

Intimate narrative performance for one person at a time

Inside Immersive Event - Main Image

Stories of Personal Growth is a durational performance project that is often indistinguishable from every day life. It’s based on the idea that telling stories about ourselves to ourselves and other people helps us to understand where we come from, who we are, and to become the people we most wish to be. Expanding for the first time beyond the artist’s interior life, Inside is the premiere offering in the Stories of Personal Growth series—an intimate narrative performance that takes place in domestic space for one single person at a time. A collision between immersive theater and memoir, Inside invites the guest to become witness and collaborator by unlocking stories—some informative, some vulnerable—hidden within objects in the environment. An exploration of the interplay between time, memory, and personal history, this one-on-one experience is defined by its site-specific nature, the artist’s home in Brooklyn, NY. *Because this experience is one-on-one, there is only a single ticket available for each scheduled performance. Location details will be provided upon completion of the registration form. RISK MITIGATION AND ADVANCE PREPARATION For COVID-19 risk mitigation and to ensure the artist's personal safety, all guests will be required to provide proof of identity in the form of links to social media profiles or a photo ID in advance of their attendance, and proof of vaccination upon arrival. Details about this process are included in your ticket confirmation email. You will be required to complete the form contained within at least one week in advance of your scheduled performance to allow adequate time for preparation.

About Rachel Eve Ginsberg

My name is Rachel Eve Ginsberg, and I make art that explores relationships of all kinds  – myself with myself, myself with other(s), and other(s) with other(s) – in the hopes of creating catharsis and growth and building muscles to promote the same. My work crosses a wide range of media, including still and moving images, audio, interactive installation and needlework and typically involves the documentation of experience or performance whether firmly rooted in a tangible artifact or ephemeral and existing outside of time and space. Much of what I make can be described as durational performance or praxis, in that I constantly and actively generate and advance frameworks and theories about life and what it means to live it. If we’ve spent any time together it’s likely you’ve experienced this, whether or not you understood it as such. My love for and natural draw towards this kind of generative systems thinking crosses every area of my life.
