What is it? IN-CHARACTER is a new genre of reality television. It invites each participant to "play pretend" in an improvised story by co-creating in the moment with a team of professional "inter-actors." As a participant, there are no games to win, no puzzles to solve, no lines to memorize, just a human story to explore. You are free to improvise however you wish, and your unique choices will propel the story forward. THINK: The Truman Show, but Jim Carrey is in on it! What is it NOT? It is not a Murder Mystery. Not an Escape Room. Not Dungeons & Dragons. Not Survivor. Not Punk’d. Who can participate? Anyone! Don’t worry, no acting experience is required. You are made for this, everyone is! Will there be an audience? There are no spectators present during the experience. Rather, your individual story will be captured on film to be viewed by the at-home audience. Who is creating this? In-Character is created by Cloak Of Fiction, a creative team that combines expertise in narrative and documentary film, live theater, and interactive story. Our work brings people together through experiences that are emotionally universal, aesthetically unique, and FUN. It’s work that uplifts, heals, and showcases the power and versatility of the real, playful human spirit. When and Where is it? In-Character will take place in mid-late July of 2021 in Austin, TX. If you are accepted as a participant, you will select a 2 hour time slot. The free experience itself lasts around 30 minutes, so you may not be needed for the entire time slot. Covid?
