In the Ether

ARCOS presents their hybrid performance project In the Ether to both online and intimate, in-person Austin audiences August 7–9 and 12–14. Those seeking an in-person experience may reserve a limited seat at any of multiple intimate locations across Austin to witness (and be witnessed themselves, via livestream) performers engaged in a durational movement practice. Meanwhile, online audiences will navigate an interactive browser-based multimedia experience, with access to view all locations’ livestreams simultaneously, as performers invite them into a virtual “third” space between them called the Ether. In the Ether’s hybrid presentation provokes audiences to slow down, pause, reflect, and connect to their bodies—and each other—to consider how we might co-create with our technology to imagine new futures together and ask: what are we willing to change in this moment of global transition? For the safety and comfort of our performers and guests, non-immune and/or unvaccinated audience members for in-person performances will be asked to wear masks inside the performance venue.
