iCONTACT invites you into an immersive “feelings opera” where audience becomes participant. Through movement and voice, explore our evolving relationship with technology, nature, and each other—and awaken your capacity to feel.
Picture 3 large pink moth puppets that take at least 15 humans, including audience members, to fly. iCONTACT the tactile tech opera invites you to step in as an active participant in this experimental and interactive adventure. This immersive “feelings opera” traces the evolution of Beings from galactic matter to human to mostly-robotic-human. The dystopian future arrives and our pet robots, aka phones, have grown larger than (real) Life. iPhone A Million And Eleven dangles heavy from the arm, and people have not looked at each other for well over a decade. Until some"thing" unexpected arrives on the planet to dissolve the numbness epidemic and re awaken human Beings to (their) Nature. Movement and soundscape come together for a uniquely transformative experience. Everyone in the space transforms into a collective, responsive system through invited movement and collaborative vocal experiences to come to life right then and there. Please wear all black and something you can move freely in. Shoes will be left to the side near the entrance.
Audience Role
The audience will participate in creating the landscape of the opera, they will be invited to hold and engage with puppets, sing, move and dance with us and hold parts of the stage props to create the scenes, we will be interfacing with them constantly and they can decide how much and how little they want to engage. Touch is also optional and rules of engagement will be expressed and agreed upon at the beginning of the show.
