Hidden Stories in Paintings + Da Vinci: The Immersive Show (Sofia)

What happens to a painting when no one is looking at it anymore? By day, the museum keeps every world in its place. It names it, frames it, holds it still. But at night, the edges begin to dissolve. Frames come apart, plants climb out of the paintings and take over the room, and the audience no longer stands in front of the artworks — it steps inside them. Hidden Stories in Paintings is an immersive experience about transformation, inspired by the worlds of Henri Rousseau, Max Ernst, Frida Kahlo and Maria Sibylla Merian. Four worlds open out of one another, built from leaves, animals, portraits, fruit, insects and textures lifted from the artists' work and recomposed into a space that never stops changing. The journey begins in Henri Rousseau's Dreamed Jungle, where the vegetation grows past the frame. Tigers, monkeys and birds appear among leaves and flowers, in a landscape born from the imagination of an artist who had never seen a jungle. From the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and the Vitruvian Man to his sketches of flying machines and his anatomical studies, his work now comes to life in an immersive experience on a monumental scale. Where art meets invention Through 360° projections, animation and an original score, the show invites the audience into Da Vinci's thoughts — to discover his visionary inventions, explore the City of the Future drawn from his designs, and enter the workshop where some of the most remarkable ideas in history first took shape. Each chapter reveals another side of the man, turning the visit into a journey through the imagination of one of the most influential minds of the Renaissance.
