About EXITS Fort Greene

EXITS is an audio-theatrical journey through the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene, bringing together the unique voices of four local theatre artists. Using physical distance and aural intimacy, EXITS connects audiences with beloved community spaces, moments, and memories we’ve felt estranged from because of COVID-19, while recognizing the constant shifts in our relationship to place. Blending genres and eras, EXITS invites us to consider what we’ve lost, what we’ve missed, what we’re excited to return to and experience anew. EXITS exists as both a self-guided soundwalk and a site-specific live performance. The soundwalk will be available in October to be experienced in person any time. In addition, from September 30-October 5, live performers will activate the soundwalk and the highlighted Fort Greene spaces for small, guided audiences. Both experiences will be available for free. EXITS is created by theater makers Rachel Gita Karp, Deneen Reynolds-Knott, Emerie Snyder, and Dina Vovsi: four artists who first connected early in the pandemic in Fort Greene Park. Additional collaborators include sound designer Brent Arnold and visual designer Lina Younes. EXITS is a New Georges Supported Production made possible by the New York City Artist Corps, and is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council.
