Emotional Trash Processing Service Immersive Event - Main Image

Not sure how to make sense of the dense tangle of emotions you may be experiencing at any given time? Have your feelings been building up and spilling out, perhaps even leaving a sticky mess? Never fear - the Department of Emotional Sanitation is here to help. You will join a small group of fellow trainees in actively learning the Department's process. You'll suit up in your reflective safety vest, learn a trusted framework for sorting your emotions, and then have the chance to play with physically embodying fear, anger, sadness and joy through a guided experience that is set to music. You'll have a chance to dramatically trash - or thoughtfully compost - what you'd like to. You will not be asked to share any words of your private grief with the group. You will have time for written reflection for yourself. This experience is lighthearted and playful; it also may shake loose real, deep things. All of it is welcome. Come in comfortable clothing that's easy to move in. This is being offered two times on the 27th. You can sign up for the 1PM group or the 3PM group. About Natalie Hi there, I'm Natalie (she/they). I'm a professional experience designer with an academic background in human behavior and a performing arts background in improv, physical theatre and clown. I've navigated death, despair and natural disasters by transmuting heavy feelings into playful physicality. This experience is inspired by existential drama therapy principles, which teach us that stepping into playful surreality can give us the safety we need to access deep parts of ourselves—feelings we might find tricky to access otherwise.

About The Portland Grief House

At our house we honor complexity and integration. We believe in being whole. We invite every tangled, stranded, bright and rusty, loved, neglected part of you to be with all the silent, screaming, shining parts of us. Come be perfect and broken and gardening. Come be perfect and broken and dancing. We welcome you and your grief, whatever shape you're in. Let's make a place where we can practice being alive and complicated, together. Welcome. Let yourself in.
