PlayCo is proud to announce the return of Dear Laila from Palestinian artist Basel Zaraa for an extended run in Bay Ridge, June 2 - June 6, 2026 at Salam Arabic Church located at 414 80th St, Brooklyn, NY 11209. Dear Laila is a different type of PlayCo experience—a 15-minute immersive installation, for one person at a time, that invites you to explore a desk full of family keepsakes and photos, and a model creator Basel Zaraa made of his childhood home, while listening to the letter Zaraa wrote to his daughter Laila over headphones. Extended Run June 2 - 6. Buy a ticket for your individual appointment time by selecting from the available times listed to the right. Dear Laila June presentations will also exhibit selected works from the New York Pavilion of the Gaza Biennale, a collective of artists from Gaza formed that challenges the art field to reckon with the weight of the ongoing genocide, presents a model of resilience, and fulfills a desperate need to recognize the depth and complexity of human life. PLEASE NOTE: Salam Arabic Church is NOT wheelchair accessible and stairs are required.
Audience Role
Attendees enter the 15-minute experience alone, sitting face-to-face with a detailed miniature of Zaraa’s former home as they encounter a story of displacement suffused with memories of joy, family, and the beauty of community.
