Tickets and additional information can be found at www.burningcoal.org or by calling the box office at (919) 834-4001. COPENHAGEN is a three-person play that provides a fictional account of the meeting between physicists Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr at Bohr’s home in Copenhagen in 1941 during the throes of World War II. Heisenberg and Bohr, accompanied by Bohr’s wife Margrethe, revisit their personal and professional entanglements throughout decades of war, turmoil, and scientific advancement. The trio reenacts and simultaneously analyzes their infamous gathering, weaving in and out of various points in their shared past. For Heisenberg and Bohr, the question will always remain: what will come of the decisions we made?

About Burning Coal Theatre Company
We produce literate, visceral, affecting theatre that is experienced, not simply seen. We emphasize works that are felt and experienced viscerally, unlike more traditional, linear plays where audiences are most often asked to observe without participating. Using the best local, national and international artists available, we produce explosive re-examinations of overlooked classics, modern and contemporary plays that address issues and themes poignant in our community. With this in mind, we strive to achieve high-energy performances with minimalist production values. Race and gender non-specific casting is an integral component of our perspective, as well as an international viewpoint.
