Carnal Spill (LA)
WE WONT LAY DOWN AND BE QUIET
CARNAL SPILL - LOS ANGELES Premiered in NYC in May, 2022, Carnal Spill is the newest dance in choreographer Carrie Aherns Sex Status trilogy that seeks to expose the porousness between womens sexual and quotidian lives. How does our relationship to words evoke erotic connection or disconnection; turn-on or shame? The synthesis of words and movement in Carnal Spill allows a window into the complexity of the sexual encounter from within each performers body. As with the rest of the Sex Status canon, the work is performed in a private home that will be open to the public. Conceived, directed and performed by Carrie Ahern with collaborators Jennifer Chin and Elke Rindfleisch. With original contributions by NYC cast, Donna Costello, Carolyn Hall, Anne Parichon, and Bennalldra Williams. Carnal Spill uses text written by Ahern and collaborator Vanessa DeWolf alongside improvised storytelling by each performer. The work features original music by composer Anne Hege who will perform live in Los Angeles and San Francisco with her homemade instrument the tape machine. Lighting design and set elements will be tailored for the home by Jay Ryan and executed by Stage Manager, Kristin Dwyer along with support form Production Manager, Tara Ocon. Address given upon ticket purchase. Limited seating. Website and tickets: https://www.carrieahern.com Tickets sliding scale $25-$100
