Bury The Wren: a VR/AR/Carbon Reality experience
By Beth Kates. A cutting edge blending of VR and live performance giving voice to a forgotten woman.
In 1880, in rural Southwestern Ontario, five members of the Donnelly family were brutally murdered by their neighbours in an act of religious-fuelled vigilantism. Annie Donnelly and her husband Robert survived, and lived among the murderers who were never brought to justice. "Bury The Wren" is an immersive one-on-one performance that innovatively blends Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Carbon Reality (CR) in a female-centric, feminist retelling of an oft told story, from a dark time in Canadian history. Using cutting edge technology “Bury The Wren” exhumes Annie’s forgotten voice from the grave of history.
