But our past is never forgotten. Now unearthed, this secret history is re-explored and re-imagined at BLOOM, inviting guests to go on the wondrous journey of a seed; a voyage through interconnected networks of natural knowledge from root to bloom, where unseen forces orchestrate nature's annual rebirth and blossoming. BLOOM is inspired by Rockefeller Center’s storied natural past. Two centuries ago, America's first botanical garden, the Elgin Garden, flourished on the very land where Rockefeller Center sits today. Created by renowned botanist Dr. Hosack, the Elgin Garden was known as “America’s Eden,” famous for its wide variety of indigenous and exotic plants, many with medicinal properties. BLOOM explores the secret wonders of this forgotten Eden, and the intricate tapestry of nature's choreography, where every element plays a vital role in sustaining life, from delicate flowers to vast ecosystems. Beginning Mother’s Day weekend, BLOOM invites our guests on a journey from the past to the future, from root to blossom – into a vibrant botanical wonderland where nature’s heroes unveil the extraordinary power within the Earth, under our very feet. Highlights from the journey within BLOOM: Gates of New York’s Eden: Descend into a realm beneath Rockefeller Center. Mother Earth will be your guide in a world where digital experiences meet nature’s playground. Earthing: Beginning the journey as a seed, guests will delve underground into the mysteries of a subterranean network of mycelium Germination: Witness the magic of germination as guests traverse inflated hidden rooms and experience mesmerizing video and sound installations, watching as seeds sprout and grow, prompting reflection on the cyclical nature of life. Mushroom Forest: Guests will rise among the mushrooms, and explore their protective role amidst a giant mushroom themed playspace celebrating fungi's vital contribution to nature. The Conservatory: Relax in Dr. Hosack’s conservatory from the Elgin Gardens, where herbal concoctions and botanical wisdom await, offering a glimpse into the Garden's medicinal discoveries in partnership with NY’s own modern botanists, The Alchemist Kitchen.
