Black Mirror Experience™ (NYC)

Become the protagonist of an original Black Mirror narrative

Black Mirror Experience™ (NYC) Immersive Event - Main Image

Join us for an immersive adventure that puts you at the center of the Black Mirror universe. Inspired by the Emmy-winning anthology series, THE BLACK MIRROR EXPERIENCE™ fuses physical environments and interactive virtual reality to plunge visitors into an entirely new story rooted in the series’s signature thought-provoking style. In this hour-long journey, groups of up to six participants become the protagonists of an original Black Mirror narrative. Together, they navigate a storyline that dissects the accelerating, unpredictable relationship between artificial intelligence, innovation, and modern society. The groundbreaking format moves beyond passive location-based VR, letting participants actively steer how the story unfolds around them. No prior knowledge of the Black Mirror TV series is required. THE BLACK MIRROR EXPERIENCE™ is currently live at Montreal’s Infinity Experience and Madrid’s Espacio Delicias, and was honored with a Special Mention in the Immersive Competition of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Its limited engagement at The Shed marks a highly anticipated United States debut. A 60-minute collective experience where every decision matters. Hybrid format: part physical, part virtual reality - unsettlingly close to our own world. Honored with a Special Mention in the Immersive Competition of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. The Black Mirror experience requires the processing of biometric data (facial image and voice) using artificial intelligence to create your personalised avatar. This processing is managed by UNIVRSE CORE, S.L. (“UNIVRS”) as an independent data controller. Upon your arrival at the venue, UNIVRSE will request your individual, express and voluntary consent, providing all necessary information and doing so before the experience begins. Without your consent, you will not be able to participate and will be entitled to a refund in accordance with the applicable refund conditions. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes in advance.

About The Shed

The Shed is a new cultural institution of and for the 21st century. We produce and welcome innovative art and ideas, across all forms of creativity, to build a shared understanding of our rapidly changing world and a more equitable society. In our highly adaptable building on Manhattan’s west side, The Shed brings together established and emerging artists to create new work in fields ranging from pop to classical music, painting to digital media, theater to literature, and sculpture to dance. We seek opportunities to collaborate with cultural peers and community organizations, work with like-minded partners, and provide unique spaces for private events. The Shed was designed to break with the traditions that separate art forms and audiences. By minimizing social and economic barriers to entry, we offer a warm, welcoming space for innovation and dialogue. Embracing technology, we work with creative thinkers and partners to create transformational digital experiences on-site and online. Using our flexible infrastructure and operational capabilities, we can produce performances, exhibitions, events, and gatherings of almost any type in expansive, multiuse venues that allow for social distancing. Driven by our belief that access to new art and ideas is a right, not a privilege, we present engaging experiences and forge deep bonds between our artists and audiences. As an independent nonprofit that values invention, equity, and generosity, we are committed to advancing art forms, addressing the urgent issues of our time, and making our work impactful, sustainable, and relevant to the local community, the cultural sector, New York City, and beyond.
