An intense re-imagining of the Bacchae by Euripides, with a hypnotic 1960s setting. 40 audience members mingle with 6 performers in a free-roam immersive show in an underground crypt. Take a trip to the city of Thebes, where King Pentheus believes he has everything under control - that is until his divine cousin Dionysus turns up seeking revenge on the family who have expressed doubt about this upstart god’s status. Witness first-hand the clash between mortals and the divine. You will ask yourself … do you deny a god? Brought to you by Sleepwalk Immersive. We offer intense theatrical experiences for small audiences – telling stories which will haunt and enthral. “A fascinating journey, filled with surprises that will linger in your memory long after it ends.” Please arrive at least 10 mins before the ticket time as we are unable to stop the show for latecomers. Please note that the show is a non-seated event, where you can explore the set and choose to follow specific characters. There will be scenes of a disturbing nature and the performance is not appropriate for those with sensitivity to lighting - for further information email info@sleepwalkimmersive.com. Bacchanalia is an 18+ experience and audience members will be offered alcoholic drinks. Our venue is a church crypt in Bethnal Green and not fully accessible. There is no cloakroom and large bags cannot be carried on set.
