Artifacts of No Consequence

The scenes you most remember are the ones you change the most

Artifacts of No Consequence Immersive Event - Main Image

Every act of remembering changes the memory. How do we see ourselves, when the most often-remembered stories become the most changed? Over the course of 50 minutes, you’ll see decades’ worth of diaries, photos, relics, and toys, and ideally stumble upon whatever brilliant revelation must be hidden in them – because why else would you have kept them? It takes place in the Cottage at the Maas building, placed in a real, live room. It’s not a theatre; there’s a bed and everything. You’ll have to walk behind the kitchen to get here. (Please be aware the venue involves several ground floor steps, and a stairway up to the second floor.) Content acknowledgement – the journals involved cover several decades of life. In your time here, you may find writings about puberty, religion, misogyny, racism, anxiety, depression, war, infidelity, the end of friendships, the loss of a child. Interaction with the artifacts is always optional.

Audience Role

The audience is encouraged to dig with the performer through old journals and memorabilia. Interaction with these artifacts is not necessary, but will add to the experience. There are portions that are more performative, where the audience can sit and watch, and portions where the audience is handed journals to look at.

Ages: 18 +

The show involves reading journals from the performers' childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Sexual content in the journals is usually limited to descriptions of old relationships, but may at times detail intimate physical moments.
