Michela Dwyer and Indigo Cook come to the Durham Fringe Festival with An Undiscovered Room – an immersive journey into lost and hidden spaces. Over the course of the performance, the audience travels through a maze constructed inside the venue with a series of poles and stitched-together curtains of found and recycled materials. The performers – dancers, musicians, poets, and actors – navigate the space alongside the audience. Specific conditions inside the maze, such as an encounter with another person, a shift in sound or lighting, etc., triggers performance scores for the artists. Dance, music, and text emerge from these encounters as each score is performed and the work unfolds in a constantly evolving labyrinth of experience, discovery, and connection.

About Interdisciplinary Arts Collective
Interdisciplinary Arts Collective began in 2017 as a group of musicians, dancers, poets, and visual artists based out of Westminster University in Salt Lake City. Founded by Indigo Cook, IAC’s initial goal was to build a collaborative network between the students in the school’s different art programs and among the wider Salt Lake community - fostering partnerships, play, and experimentation. That sense of collectivity and curiosity has continued on from our early student years into our current iteration as a freelance performance group based in the city, staging our own creative projects and working alongside other artists. Our work focuses primarily on contemporary performance practices in experimental and avant-garde art. We aim to explore the creative and communicative potential generated by the intersection and transformation of disciplines during collaborative artistic processes. We owe our most significant influences to Pauline Oliveros, John Cage, the Infrarealists, Fluxus, and Adam Pendleton’s Black Dada. Our practice ranges from the performance of contemporary repertoire to the creation of new works, the staging of performance art and sonic experiments, the construction of intermedial installations, and community-oriented arts activations.
