A.A.Murakami: New Nature
Experience a new form of nature that continues to transform through creation, change, and disappearance, and the expanding world of art within it.
Artist duo A.A.Murakami, whose work explores the relationship between technology and nature, will hold their first solo exhibition in Korea at Paradise Art Space. Experience a new form of nature that continues to transform through creation, change, and disappearance, and the expanding world of art within it. Exhibition Introduction A.A.Murakami is an artist duo that fuses science and art to create natural phenomena that have never existed before. This exhibition, “New Nature,” offers a special immersive experience where visitors can encounter living nature through soap bubbles, light, and wind shaped by technology. From bubble flowers that bloom and disappear in an instant, to giant clouds floating through darkness, and a drawing robot that reinterprets patterns of life found on seashells as paintings, the exhibition presents a “new nature” that coveys the cycle of creation and disappearance. Experience this new form of nature in moments that are made even more beautiful because they vanish so fleetingly. Featured Works New Spring Inspired by the moment cherry blossoms fall, “New Spring” is a representative work of A.A.Murakami's key concept, “Ephemeral Tech.” From the ends of branches extending from a 6.4-meter-tall metal tree structure, white mist-filled bubbles slowly descend like cherry blossom petals. In the fleeting moment when they burst and disappear at your fingertips, visitors can experience a new sense of beauty and disappearance. Beyond the Horizon Inspired by Eastern aesthetics that view clouds as symbols of impermanence and as passages connecting the earth and the heavens, this work fills a dark space with giant bubble clouds drifting through the air. Clouds created by devices suspended from the ceiling slowly rise and quietly disperse among soft, moonlit glows. In moments of creation and disappearance that never repeat in the same form, visitors can fully sense the stillness of night and the vastness of the universe. Mud Paintings From "A Thousand Layers of Stomach" Series This series began when the artists happened to look closely at a Manila clam shell while eating doenjang soup. Discovering nature’s intricate design in shells with patterns that are never the same, A.A.Murakami analyzed and coded the process by which clams form their shells by accumulating layers of minerals over many years as a biological algorithm. On a mud field reminiscent of tidal flats, a robotic drawing device builds up lines according to the code, recreating the way clams accumulate time.
